The Scottish Chamber Orchestra has a discography now exceeding 150 recordings and our new releases are consistently met with wide critical acclaim. The SCO has a partnership with Glasgow-based Linn Records, with whom it has recorded 15 CDs.
The Orchestra’s latest release, Weber Wind Concertos, features SCO Principals Maximiliano Martín (clarinet), Peter Whelan (bassoon) and Alec Frank-Gemmill (horn) as soloists and has already been well-received by critics:
"... a lively listen, guaranteed to brighten up any afternoon and put a smile on your face" (Classic FM)

Berlioz’s masterwork Symphonie Fantastique, is the SCO’s first recording with Principal Conductor Robin Ticciati. The symphony, written in 1830, is one of the major works of early Romanticism.
Italia, featuring Nicola Benedetti and the SCO, was recorded following the hugely successful 2010 South of Scotland Tour. Benedetti traces her Italian roots through timeless classics by Vivaldi, Tartini and Veracini.
The SCO's third instalment in its successful Mozart Serenades series with violinist Alexander Janiczek, released on Linn Records. Recorded in August 2010, the CD features Janiczek and an SCO ensemble performing Mozart's Divertimento K.334 and Oboe Quartet K.370.
Following a performance at Perth Concert Hall in March 2010, the Orchestra and members of the SCO LAB went into the studio with conductor David Murphy and Indian sarod maestro Amjad Ali Khan, to record Khan's Samaagam. The piece is a fusion of Eastern and Western music and was recorded for the World Village label.
In earlier recordings, conductor Emeritus Joseph Swensen conducts and takes the solo in Prokofiev's Violin Concerto No 2 and the 'Classical' Symphony, as well as performing Mendelssohn's Violin Concerto and conducting the 'Scottish' Symphony and Hebrides Overture. Sir Charles Mackerras conducts superb music by Kodály and Bartók while SCO Principals take the solos in Mozart's Wind Concertos under conductor Alexander Janiczek.
And don't forget about the must-have complete box set of Beethoven's symphonies, conducted by Sir Charles Mackerras. This box set was recorded live at the Edinburgh International Festival in 2006 and features the Scottish Chamber Orchestra on Symphonies 1-8, and the bigger forces of the Philharmonia Orchestra on Symphony No 9.
