Joanna Baker said:
“It is a great privilege to have been appointed as Chair of the SCO at such an exciting moment in the Orchestra’s history as it approaches its 50th Anniversary season. I have been an admirer – and fan – of the SCO for many years, and my admiration for this wonderful orchestra has only deepened since joining the Board. I am delighted to have this opportunity to contribute further to the SCO’s bright future.”
Colin Buchan said:
"Joanna has been an outstanding member of the SCO’s Board of Directors. Her exceptional knowledge of the cultural world plus a deep commitment to all aspects of the work of the SCO across Scotland and internationally, means she will be an equally outstanding Chair. It has been a great privilege to have Chaired the SCO over the last nine years. I have enjoyed working with Joanna and all my colleagues on the Board, management team and orchestra enormously and as my formal relationship with the SCO draws to a close, I wish everyone a hugely successful 50th anniversary season."
We extend our warmest congratulations to Joanna on her appointment at this pivotal moment in the SCO’s history whilst at the same time extending our heartfelt appreciation to outgoing Chair, Colin Buchan, for his exceptional leadership and contributions over the last eleven years.
