News Story
Following the overwhelmingly positive reaction to our Steve Reich + concerts with Colin Currie in 2023, and in response to feedback in our annual audience survey, we are delighted to introduce our New Dimensions series in our 2024/25 Season, dedicated to stretching your musical imagination and exploring new sounds worlds.
Join us for exciting programmes with music for the mind, the body and the soul. Experience provocative premieres, stimulating minimalism and modern Scottish classics, and rediscover iconic works in a laid back, informal concert format.
Come as you are, and come early to enjoy foyer music courtesy of our roster of Scottish DJ talent. Make a night of it, bring your friends, and stick around afterwards - the bar will be open for a fun, social concert de-brief.
Series highlights include:
- our newly-appointed Principal Guest Conductor Andrew Manze directing Scottish premieres by the Swedish composers Anders Hillborg and Madeleine Isaksson, part of Nordic Music Days.
- music by Sir James MacMillan, Sally Beamish and SCO Associate Composer Jay Capperauld
- trumpeter Sergei Nakariakov joining our Principal Conductor Maxim Emelyanychev for the thrills of Jörg Widmann's Ad Absurdum
- violinist Pekka Kuusisto and pianist Simon Crawford-Phillips bringing their charisma to bear on works by Thomas Adès and Timo Andres
We look forward to your joining us for what promises to be a fascinating journey of discovery!
