Honorary Consulate of Finland
Business Partner
The honorary consulates augment Finland’s network of diplomatic missions, and are made up of embassies, consulate generals, consulates and other liaison offices. The honorary consulate of Finland, Edinburgh and Glasgow is headed by the honorary consul, Harry Nimmo.
Across Scotland, the honorary consul monitors the rights of Finns and foreigners permanently residing in Finland. He provides advice and guidance for Finnish citizens and foreigners permanently residing in Finland who are temporarily abroad and together with diplomatic missions, promotes economic and cultural relations between Finland and Scotland.
The SCO has a deep connection with Finnish music through our long-standing collaboration with Pekka Kuusisto, world-renowned violinist, conductor, composer and advocate of Finnish music to audiences across the globe. His work with the SCO has been both prolific and innovative, and we share a commitment to bringing diverse repertoire to the stage.
This 2024/25 Season will see a continuation of Pekka’s residency with the SCO and we are delighted to share his three eclectic concerts with Scottish audiences once again.
Pekka Kuusisto's Visiting Artist Chair is kindly supported by the Honorary Consulate of Finland, Edinburgh and Glasgow. Are you interested in sponsoring a Chair?
